Fargo - The path to three straight Division I FCS national titles really starts that first Wednesday in February. That’s when North Dakota State announces its football recruiting class on national signing day.
FARGO – Former Colorado State men’s basketball guard Dwight Smith had quite the list of schools he was considering transferring to for his senior year. It’s down to North Dakota State and Northern Colorado.
Injured incumbent starter Brian Hoyer returned to the practice field in a limited capacity as organized team activities began for the Cleveland Browns, but most of the attention was on the performance of first-round pick Johnny Manziel.
Ninth overall pick Anthony Barr signed a four-year deal with the Minnesota Vikings that includes $12.75 million guaranteed. Barr landed with the Vikings after Minnesota moved back from the eighth spot in a draft-day trade with the Cleveland Browns.

FARGO – North Dakota State’s football team will head into summer workouts minus three players, including two from the area, but nobody who played a significant role on last season’s FCS national championship team.
FARGO – For the first time in 50 years, a Maughan won’t be coaching wrestling at North Dakota State. Assistant coach Bret Maughan resigned on Monday, saying it’s something that mentally has been in the works for him for the last year or two.
