MOORHEAD – For diversion advocates, Friday was a day for celebration. A federal water projects bill authorizing the proposed $1.8 billion flood channel around Fargo-Moorhead passed the U.S. Senate on Thursday and now awaits an expected signature from President Barack Obama.

FARGO – With the threat of a federal injunction from project opponents looming, diversion leaders moved ahead Thursday with a ring levee around three communities south of the Fargo-Moorhead area in hopes of starting construction in July.
MINTO, N.D. - U.S. Highway 81 is closed through Minto Thursday morning, the result of flooding caused by an ice jam on the Forest River. The road was closed at about 3 a.m., approximately 90 minutes after water started threatening the road, according to Walsh County Emergency Manager Brent Nelson.
