Deaths: This is the first notification of a person's death. We request that notices of death come from an official source, such as a funeral home or hospital. If provided by a friend or family member, we do require the name of the funeral home or crematorium handling arrangements. This notice includes the name of the deceased, age, city of residence, and when and where he or she died. The name and city of the funeral home handling the arrangements also will be included. This notice will be published once at no charge.

Free obits: This will include the same information found in a death notice as well as the names of immediate family survivors (spouses, fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters and children of the deceased, along with the survivor spouses. It will also include visitation, funeral and burial information.

Obituaries: All obituaries are paid advertisements and are printed within a box. The charge for obituaries is 45 cents per word. There is an additional charge of $35 for each one-column photo. Only photos of the deceased are allowed in an obituary. Logos of various organizations may be included for an additional $5 per logo. Charges can be prepaid, charged to a credit card or billed to a funeral home. Obituaries can run an additional time at 50 percent off (within a 7-day period). The minimum charge for any obituary is $100. This can include charges for photos, logos or text.

Corrections: Corrections to a death notice or service announcement will be made on the obituary page with the person's name in the headline.
